FAQs

As a driven and ambitious individual, you will no doubt have questions for us. At Tibra we encourage the need to learn more. Here are just some of the initial questions you may have for us.

What products does Tibra trade?

Tibra Capital trades in equity derivatives (stocks and indices), cash equities, FX, fixed income and energy across major financial exchanges.

Where are you located?

We have 5 offices covering London, Amsterdam, Sydney, Wollongong, and Hong Kong with plans for more. There are over 170 people working for Tibra at these locations covering IT, Traders, Capital Management and business support functions.

Are there opportunities for travel between offices?

Yes there are opportunities. We will try to accommodate any interest in different office locations where there are vacancies for your role and level of experience.

What is the selection process?

The process will consist of a resume review, followed by a math & logic test for Traders, programming skills tests for Developers, and final interviews. You will be interviewed by HR and a Director, Senior Trader or Senior Software Developer, depending on the role you are applying for.

What can I expect in the math & logic tests?

The test comprises a 30 minute math test followed by a 1 hour logic test. We tend not to disclose too much information about our tests as they are designed for speed and accuracy and to replicate as closely as possible the pressurised environment that is trading.

Is everyone required to sit the math & logic tests for the Trader roles?

Yes. Advanced mathematical ability and a capacity to operate under significant pressure are essential qualities for a trader which is what the test is designed to reveal.

If I don't pass the test can I re-sit the test at a later date?

Unfortunately at this stage we are not testing applicants who have previously applied and tested for this position.

How many graduates do you hire each year?

We are always looking for exceptional candidates and do not have a set number of placements as we will create jobs and trading positions for the right people.

Does Tibra offer internships?

There are occasionally opportunities for work experience in our Australian offices. Please contact careers@tibra.com.au for more information. We generally do not offer work experience placements/internships in the UK and Asia, although this may change and we will place relevant information on our website www.tibracareers.com.

What qualifications do I need to work at Tibra?

Most graduate applicants will need a bachelors degree or equivalent (2:1 or above in the UK). For Trading roles, you can apply from a range of disciplines. Graduate Software Developers should have a degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Do you reimburse my travel costs during the recruitment process?

Due to such large volumes of applicants, we are not able to reimburse for travel expenses at the preliminary testing stage of recruitment. We will however consider reimbursing candidates whom we make offers to for travel costs incurred during the interview stage(s).

What else does Tibra do, outside of Trading?

There are three key parts to Tibra: Tibra Trading, Tibra Capital Management and Tibra Intellectual Property.

Tibra Capital Management is responsible for managing and investing client funds. This team adopts a quantitative investment approach combined with the company's trading expertise and a proven investment process.

Tibra Intellectual Property is the software division of the company that builds our high speed automated trading technologies, producing some of the fastest and most sophisticated systems found on global exchanges.
